Welcome to Edition #3 of The 22 Post: Around the world in 22 days 🌍
It’s been a whirlwind world tour for SaaS22 since we last saw you in Edition #2. We’ve taken SaaS22 to Bengaluru, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and back (and we’re heading to one of our favourite destinations again. More on that when you read till the end).

On April 24, 2025, we finally kicked off our India event series with a D2C mixer in association with ZEPIC and Axeptio.
The evening saw the best of Bengaluru’s D2C minds come together and jam on the latest trends and technological developments influencing the space. The highlights of the day included exciting product showcases led by Sreelesh Pillai — Co-CEO, ZEPIC, and Yeshas Nakshathri — Head of Partnerships (EMEA) at Axeptio, followed by a (lit 🔥, as the kids would say) panel discussion on AI—Hype vs. Reality in today’s online retail world, moderated by Siddhartha Ahluwalia (Neon Fund) in conversation with Vibin Prabhakaran (DaMENSCH), Pallav Bihani (Boldfit), Sudarshan Gangrade (Lo Foods), and Vamsi Krishna Wuppalapati (startup coach).
With barely a breather in between, we moved on to our next event in Bengaluru (two for two, aren’t we a lucky bunch!)—hosting the team from monday.com along with their key customers and partners from India for an evening of conversations over small plates and cocktails.
Every event we host gives us a chance to create unique experiences, and for this very special evening, we were able to bring on board award-winning mixologist Anisha Biswas for an unforgettable mixology workshop, letting monday.com’s customers and partners get their hands dirty crafting some delectable cocktails 🍸.

We then packed our bags and headed to the mecca of SaaS (and now AI) — SaaStr AI Annual 2025 for an action-packed week filled with meetings, SaaStr, and, of course, the mixers.
While we’re still buzzing from all the conversations with founders, SaaS and AI leaders, friends—old and new, we’ve walked away with three clear takeaways:
You need to go beyond the cookie-cutter AI use cases to stay relevant in 2025 and beyond—set ambitious AI ROI Benchmarks and go all out to achieve them (Jason M. Lemkin).
Vertical SaaS is the next trillion-dollar industry (multiple sessions).
Deep strategic partnerships from day one are essential for companies starting today, but if they aren’t structured right, they could also be your biggest downfall (Tomasz Tunguz).
What happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas, because we also made a pit stop at MAU Vegas! 🎰 We were thrilled to be a part of the world's largest MarTech, Ad Tech, and Sales Tech event.
It was a chance for us to connect with innovators, peers, friends, and acquaintances, old and new, to explore cutting-edge technologies, growth, marketing, user engagement, and retention strategies.
Building SaaS in 2025? Then here's something you should know 🔎
Speaking of what we learned at SaaStr—and this was a combination of what we saw, heard from peers around us and corroborated through readings and sessions—entry barriers to building SaaS and AI products have been lowered, categories are quickly getting commoditised, inbound marketing isn’t scaling as quickly and outbound (more so with AI SDR tools) is a hit or a miss.
All of which leads us to believe that distribution is the only moat left in SaaS. So we sat down with Krish Ramachandran for his thoughts on how to safeguard your moats in SaaS today. If there’s one piece you read from today’s newsletter, it should be this. 👇
